Estée Lauder double wear is a cult favourite for many many makeup lovers out there. I was intrigued to try as I used to love the idea of a full coverage foundation, how it would cover all the imperfections, and make my skin look flawless.
Double wear situated in a matte glass bottle without pump. I had to buy a MAC foundation pump and it fits perfectly. However I won’t be able to use put a lid on afterwards.
It provides medium coverage with one pump(can still see my freckles peeking through), even out my complexion, and I can build it up to full coverage with more however it will look caky. It does not smooth or blur pores, it accentuates and settles into pore and fine lines especially when smiling and clings on to dry patches. You can definitely see I have foundation on, and it feels a bit heavy on the skin. I got shade 1w1 bone which matches my MAC NC20 skin nicely. It’s easy to blend and I prefer to use a beauty blender as it will look less caky. It contains SPF so I heard it is not good for flash photography. I tried taking pictures in the dark with flash on, honestly I couldn’t see any flash black.
One more thing to mention is I did apply moisturising primer and smoothing primer underneath. At the end of the day , I could see that the foundation was sitting on top of my skin, and it started to crack around my nose area and made my dry patches look worse.
It is very long lasting though, controls the oil at my T-zone area perfectly. (I have normal skin with slightly oily T- zone.)
I’d say this foundation is suitable for people with oliy skin, love medium to full coverage makeup with matte finish and does not have too many rough texture like fine lines, dry patches or large pores.
I probably will not repurchase with a price tag of AU$50.
Have you tried this foundation and what are your thoughts?
Thanks for reading.
