Hello, everyone, hope you are having a relaxed weekend. Today’s post is about Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) Rouge Volupt shade 32 (Jealous coral) – Silky sensual Radiant Lipstick (SPF15).
This YSL lipstick is the first high end lipstick that I have ever bought. When it comes to makeup, I seriously don’t mind if it’s high end or affordable brand, as long as its quality, packaging and/or colour schemes (at least one of them meets my needs and standard). The packaging is the reason I wants to try YSL lipsticks in the first place. Secondly, it’s the colour. I always love coral colours, and I find it’s more forgiving than peach or orange coloured lipsticks for my skin tone. Coral coloured lipsticks make me feel girly, reminds me of spring and summer and lighten my skin. It is also a great all year round lipstick colour if you are a girl who do not like vampy lip colours in autumn and winter.
Description of this line of lipsticks on the Myer website: All the magic and know-how of Yves Saint Laurent can be found in this lipstick. Both light yet rich, its creamy texture becomes fluid on contact with the lips for a smooth and pleasurable application that instantly leaves the lips feeling soft and dresses them with exceptional radiant colour.
My thoughts: This particular shade is very creamy, easy to apply (don’t need a mirror), glides on my lips smoothly(almost in a slippery manner). It is semi-opaque and it can almost cover my natural lip colour in about two swipes, however, if my lips are dry, it will look streaky and uneven. It will absolutely settle into fine lines and accentuate every dry patch; so be prepared to fully exfoliate your lips before applying. I also need to press my lips together several times and make the colour look even on my lips if my lips are in relatively good condition. This shade lasts on me for about 2.5 hours and it feels somewhat dry. I really had high hope to this line of lipsticks due to its price (AU$55.00), however, this particular shade did not impress me that much except of the colour and the initial texture.
